Benefits 

  • Salary: $50,000-$55,000
  • 32-Hour Workweek: A full-time, results-oriented schedule designed for flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend community engagement.

Position Summary

By serving as a front-line ambassador for the mission, the Recruitment Manager ensures a steady pipeline of participants to fuel life-changing matches.

Essential Job Duties 

Strategic Recruitment & Outreach

  • Strategic Outreach & Engagement: Research, develop, and execute innovative recruitment strategies and community partnerships across social, religious, and business sectors to proactively foster access, belonging, and opportunity for a diverse volunteer base.
  • Vision & Planning: Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer to create and execute a recruitment strategic vision and plan for agency-wide recruitment of youth and volunteers.
  • Partnership Development: Prospect, build and steward partnerships to generate volunteers by cultivating and maintaining external partnerships and strategic relationships.

Leadership and Program Development

  • Mission Advocacy: Serve as an ambassador for the mission by representing the organization at community events, presentations, and outreach opportunities.
  • Volunteer Advocacy: Launch and lead the Big Ambassadors initiative by equipping current mentors with the training and resources needed to champion the mission and recruit within their personal and professional networks.
  • Public Relations: Confidently engage diverse audiences through public speaking and relationship-building to promote volunteerism and inspire individuals to become mentors.

Team Collaboration & Administration

  • Philanthropic Support: Support a culture of philanthropy by identifying and fostering potential donor relationships and community partnerships.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Assist with reporting requirements for grant initiatives and other targeted funding sources pertaining to your program area.
  • Resource Management: Maintain and oversee the agency’s inventory of recruitment materials, collateral, and promotional giveaways to ensure the team is fully equipped for community outreach.
  • Safety Integration: Ensure high-level expertise in applying child safety and risk management knowledge and policies throughout all recruitment functions.

Key Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field and at least two years or more of relevant experience.
  • Preferred Background: Proven experience in sales, recruitment, or community-facing marketing roles is highly preferred to drive organizational growth.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use Google Suite and adapt to new technology tools, specifically Salesforce (Matchforce) and Dialpad.
  • Mission Alignment: Deep belief in the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission and the potential of the youth served. Commitment to advancing access, belonging, and opportunity.
  • Discretion & Confidentiality: High degree of professional discretion and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding volunteer, and donor records.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to develop trust and rapport among youth clients, volunteers, and staff.
    • Coachable, with a proven ability to give and receive actionable feedback.
    • Assumes the best in people and works effectively within a team environment.
  • Operational Execution: Highly organized with the ability to multi-task between various administrative and financial projects.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for meetings or outreach events.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer, occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (office supplies/event gear), and navigate various community event spaces.

    • Licensure: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
    • Background & Safety: Position is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting, as required by BBBSA and state safety standards.
